David Tennant in RSC's Richard II

Five years ago David Tennant got rave reviews for his performance as Hamlet, now it has been announced he will be back with the Royal Shakespeare Company in the title role of Richard II.
The new artistic director for the RSC Gregory Doran will direct Richard II  himself after having done so with Tennant for Hamlet, which was described as “one of the most richly textured, best acted versions of the play we have seen in years” by the Guardian’s Michael Billington.
It wa salso announced that Richard II would transfer to the barbican after it’s run in Stratford oct 10-nov 16.
Doran and his new deputy Erica Whyman also announced a new family show  “Wendy and Peter Pan”by Ella Hickson.

For me this would be a reason to travel to London in the period of time in which the play is having its performances. I usually enjoy Shakespeare plays and David Tennant stole my heart as Dr Who and as Benedict in Much Ado About Nothing at the Wyndham’s theatre oppose Catherine Tate as Beatrice. I believe it is a smart move on Doran’s part to start his term of with a pairing , David and himself, who have accomplished a great succes with a Shakespeare play in the past.

  1. I have not heard of David Tennant before, but it is nice you like watching him. It is a good move that those two will be working together again, as it has definitely worked in the past as well.
